The second largest city in the newly formed state of Chhattisgarh is Bhilai. It is situated at a distance of twenty-two kilometers from the capital city, Raipur.
The town of Bhilai is famous for the Bhilai Steel Plant, which is one of the biggest, not only in the country but also in the whole world. Bhilai is an industrial town and has a lot of other factories other than the Steel Plant that produce things like acids, gases, chemicals. The products that the Bhilai Steel Plant produces are rail, railway sleepers, construction materials and many other steel products.
The town is connected to other parts of the state by a number of railway stations. The biggest of all is the Durg Railway station, which is also the nearest. The other railway stations are:
