Kharod City



Among the many Chattisgarh towns and Chhattisgarh Cities, some areas serve both as a town and a Nagar Panchayat as well. Kharod is one such town. Kharod Town in Janjgir and Champa District of the state of Chhattisgarh is situated at an altitude of two hundred and thirty nine meters.

Kharod is a well-known religious place of the district. With the presence of a few old temples, the town of Kharod is visited by numerous tourists every year. The Sabari Temple is one such hot destination. The town has a population of nearly nine thousands with an equal sex ratio. There are almost seventeen percent of children below six years of age.

The population count is on the basis of the 2001 census. With an average literacy rate of sixty percent, Kharod has just managed to cross the national average. The national literacy rate is less than one percent of the town's average.

Female literacy situation is very grim in the town with only forty six percent of female literacy rate compared to seventy four percent of male literacy. The town is located at a more or less convenient location with three airports not very far from there. Those airports are: -
