Namna Kalan



Chhattisgarh, the "rice bowl" of India is noted for its agriculture, economy, industries as well as its tourist attractions. The state abounds in several noted towns and cities, of which Namna Kalan holds a special place.

Namna Kalan is a quaint little town in Chhattisgarh's Surguja District. The town also serves as the district's nagar panchayat. Shrouded in hoary history and enveloped by ancient Indian mythology, Surguja is possibly one of the most significant tourist destinations of Chhattisgarh. Primordial temples depicting the brilliant architecture of the day and mind-blowing landscapes are the highlights of the place.

According to the figures divulged by the 2001 Census Report, Namna Kalan's population indices were a moderate number at 8914. The male female ratio was more or less balanced with 52 males and 48 females on a total scale of 100. Namna Kalan's claim to fame rests in its highly commendable literacy rate of 73%. The literacy percentile is also dominated by the men whose literacy rate is 79% as compared to the 67% literacy rate recorded by the women.
